Hiring Staff Writer!
Good afternoon, Netrunners!
First off, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to visit the site and sent amazing private messages to be on boardgamegeek. I do this for you guys at no personal gain and it really means a lot to know that you care. The number of unique visitors each and every day this week has grown and it's truly humbling to see those numbers climb. It really makes me feel that all the work is for something and I can't express how much I appreciate it.
Moving on, we have big things in store for you here! This week, I added a very special writer to the staff and his introductory article will hopefully be up by the end of the week. That said, I'm looking to add at least one more writer to the staff.
I'll say that again, looking for at least one writer to join the staff.
To apply for the position, email me at [email protected]. Please provide any previous writing experience, freelance or otherwise. If you don't have any experience, please tell me why you'd be an asset to the website. Our goal here is to provide quality content at no cost to our viewers so I want to make sure we get the right person for the job. Providing a sample piece would be nice, but not required. The position would be for a weekly columnist. PlesE note that at this moment, there is no compensation for the position but I'm hoping that will change in the near future.
Coming soon, hopefully by the end of September, will be some t-shirts with the site logo that will be given to staff members as well as used as giveaways to loyal visitors. Point blank, I love helping out the community and this is one of the best ways I know how to. Eventually the shirts will be available for purchase but we need to see where this endeavor takes us. Other than t-shirts, we also have ideas for playmats, custom card sleeves, and a few other ideas that may or may not pan out.
Moving on, currently the site is a little bare. Everyone knows that we just opened up shop this week so don't expect it to be bare for much longer. In the coming days I'll likely be messing with the page layout a little bit and adding a few more pages to the sidebar, which hopefully will include a card library. Everyone should know that we do not take feedback for granted and because of the feedback we've received so far, we're able to improve the site.
One of the only complaints that I've personally received so far is regarding the message board service. I'm looking at changing providers so hopefully that issue is taken care of soon. I understand that that default option is to receive email notifications when someone replies to a thread that you posted to. Note that there is a "subscribe" option directly above the submit button when you post that you should click off if you do not want this feature. This is something that I cannot change and the main reason I'm looking at another provider.
Finally, I'll be officially registering the domain name by the weekend and the site will officially be Netrunning.net. Don't worry, the old site will redirect you but be sure to update your bookmarks when that does happen. Again, I can't tell you how excited I am for these changes and for the future of Netrunning and the Netrunner LCG. My goal for the site are endless and with your guys help, the possibilities are limitless.
